Known as an innovator in the field of country music, Merle Haggard helped set the high benchmark which subsequent performers have had to live up to. His sound was finely honed in the 1960s, when Haggard and like-minded individuals Buck Owens and Wynn Stewart devised a style subsequently known as the "Bakersfield" country sound. His lyrics attracted a blue collar audience, as they frequently acted as a soliloquy for the common man. Haggard has released a number of popular albums, including SWINGING DOORS, MAMA TRIED, SING ME BACK HOME, and others. But it's in the live arena that he really spreads his wings, and he is presented here performing some of his most popular tunes.
